ACEN is an Official Media Partner of NOG Energy Week 2026 — Africa’s Premier Energy Conference Returns to Abuja

Africa’s most influential energy gathering is back — and ACEN is proud to be part of it.

The 25th NOG Energy Week takes place 5–9 July 2026 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, and ACEN — the African & Caribbean Energy Network — is an Official Media Partner of this milestone event.

This is a significant moment for everyone in the ACEN community. Whether you are an investor, policymaker, project developer, or clean energy professional, what happens in Abuja next week will shape the direction of energy policy and investment across Africa and the Caribbean for years to come.

What Is NOG Energy Week?

NOG Energy Week is not just a conference. It is Africa’s premier annual forum for energy sector leaders — a week-long gathering that has been convening industry, government, and civil society for 25 years. The event is brought to you by dmg::events Nigeria, with NNPC as Principal Sponsor and OPEC as Industry Partner.

Under the banner “Uniting Leaders Driving Energy Progress for Over 25 Years,” the 25th anniversary edition brings together heads of state representatives, energy ministers, senior executives from national oil companies and independents, investors, regulators, and innovators from across the continent and beyond.

For two and a half decades, NOG has served as the venue where Africa’s energy narrative is shaped — where deals are announced, policies debated, and partnerships forged that determine how the continent powers its future.

Why NOG Energy Week 2026 Matters

Africa stands at a critical juncture. More than 600 million people across the continent lack reliable access to electricity — with Nigeria alone home to an estimated 90 million people without stable power. At the same time, Africa holds enormous natural resource wealth and more than 60% of the world’s best solar resources, yet receives less than 3% of global clean energy investment.

The 2024 Electricity Act reforms in Nigeria opened the door for subnational power procurement, off-grid market development, and private sector participation at a scale not previously possible. The debate between gas-as-transition-fuel versus an accelerated renewable build-out is shaping both domestic policy and international financing conversations. And the question of how to attract the patient, risk-tolerant capital needed to fund Africa’s energy transition remains the central challenge facing every government and developer in the room.

These are not abstract debates. They have direct implications for energy access in Nigeria’s rural communities, for the competitiveness of Caribbean small island states navigating their own clean energy transitions, and for every ACEN member working at the intersection of investment, policy, and development.

NOG Energy Week 2026 is where those conversations happen at the highest level.

“Events like NOG Energy Week are not optional for those who are serious about Africa’s energy future. Every year that decisions are delayed, millions more people go without the power they need to build a life. The leaders, investors, and policymakers in that room hold the keys — and if you are not at the table, the continent’s energy story is written without you.”

— Lady B Bless, Co-Chair & Co-Founder, African & Caribbean Energy Network (ACEN)

What to Expect on the Conference Floor

The 2026 programme will address the full spectrum of Africa’s energy challenges and opportunities:

  • Nigeria’s gas monetisation agenda — the role of domestic gas in powering industry and supporting an energy-secure transition
  • Renewable energy financing — how development finance institutions, multilateral banks, and private capital are (and aren’t) moving at the speed Africa needs
  • Energy poverty and access — SDG 7 progress, off-grid solutions, and last-mile electrification
  • Regulatory reform — what the Electricity Act and emerging policy frameworks mean for project developers and investors
  • Regional energy integration — cross-border power trading, the WAPP, and interconnection opportunities
  • Just transition frameworks — how oil-producing nations navigate decarbonisation while maintaining energy security and revenue for development

For ACEN’s Caribbean network, these conversations have direct relevance. Small Island Developing States face some of the world’s most acute energy cost burdens and are among the most vulnerable to climate disruption — yet the financing mechanisms and policy frameworks being debated at events like NOG directly shape the landscape for Caribbean clean energy investment.
